The detail
Day by day
A 45-minute charter from Wilson Airport in Nairobi. You land on a grass airstrip, step into a waiting vehicle and you are in the reserve within minutes. No road, no five-hour drive.
A custom-fitted Land Cruiser with pop-up roof, cool box and charging points. Your guide is assigned to you alone for the entire stay, learning what you want to see and how you want to see it.
At most 12 to 20 guests in the camp. Bush dinners under the stars, evening cocktails on a rise above the plains, mornings with nothing between you and the herd except open grass.
Activities that the national reserve does not permit but private conservancies do. We match camps that have the permits and the guides for both, so you see the bush at dusk and on foot.

Luxury safaris start from around $600 per person per day. The three biggest factors are camp tier, season, and whether you fly in or drive. We will give you a full itemised quote with park fees included.
Peak season (July to October) costs 20 to 40% more than green season. Shoulder months offer excellent value and fewer vehicles in the reserve.
The single biggest driver. A conservancy camp at $600 per person per day versus a standard tented lodge at $200 is a night-and-day experience in exclusivity and service.
Flying adds $300 to $500 per person return but saves 10 to 12 hours of driving across the trip. On a 4-day safari it is nearly always worth it.
Private vehicles are cost-effective for 4 or more. Couples pay slightly more per head; families of 4 to 6 typically get the best per-person rates.
Timing your trip
Private conservancies deliver excellent safaris year-round. The choice of month shifts what you see, not whether you see it.
Green Season · Predator Action
Warm, clear mornings and emerald-green plains. Predator action is outstanding as lions and cheetah hunt among calving herds. You often have sightings entirely to yourselves. The best light for photography, and rates are 20 to 30% lower than peak season. One of our personal favourites for a luxury safari.
Low Season · Quiet and Exceptional Value
The long rains bring emerald scenery, dramatic cloud formations and genuine solitude. Wildlife remains resident and rewarding. Camps are peaceful, rates are at their lowest, and you are rarely sharing a sighting with another vehicle. Ideal for those who value exclusivity and space above the migration crowd.
Peak Season · The Great Migration
More than a million wildebeest brave the crocodile-filled Mara River in heart-stopping crossings. The single most dramatic wildlife spectacle on earth. Conservancy camps fill well in advance: we recommend booking 9 to 12 months ahead for August and September. The experience justifies every part of the effort.
Short Rains · Birding and Festive Season
Brief afternoon showers green the plains and bring hundreds of Palaearctic migratory birds. Resident predators remain active, the landscape is at its most photogenic, and the festive period is a wonderful time to travel. Rates soften again after the October peak, and camps feel wonderfully quiet.
